The total area covered by mosaics is about 600 sq.m.

The Church of the Resurrection, known as the "Savior on the Blood", was erected on the site where, on 1 March 1881, Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded by a bomb thrown by Ignaty Grinevitsky, a member of the People's Will organization. The church now constitutes one of the world's finest monuments of Russian mosaic art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The ironclad cruiser Aurora is a monument to Russian shipbuilding and the history of the Russian Navy, a veritable relict of the 1917 revolution. On 25 October 1917 the cruiser fired a blank shot from its bow to signal the storming of the Winter Palace

During the excursion tourists get acquaintance with the city district where a great Russian writer Fedor Dostoevsky lived and worked and where practically all his heroes inhabited. They walk a part of Raskolnikov's way, see Raskolnikov's house and visit the memorial flat of Dostoevsky.
